Disclaimer: for the next five minutes, I fully intend to complain, unapologetically, about the weather. And the weatherman. And the South. So if you’re one of those people who just can’t stand to see one more comment about the snow or the cold or just nature in general, please feel free to tune out until we get to the part about muffins. Look at the pretty pictures, save (and share!) the recipe, whip up a dozen for yourself, and enjoy your own little slice of muffin heaven in peace.
For the rest of you who feel like commiserating with me on this miserably cold day, read on.
Normally, I’m not one to complain about the weather, especially in the winter. Probably because we’ve lived in the South for the past five years. And I now have a very loose and possibly inaccurate definition of “winter.”
But this is getting a little ridiculous.
My husband and I have very clearly-defined gender roles in our household.
He takes care of our finances. I reign supreme in the kitchen. He takes out the garbage. I clean. He handles all home repairs, maintenance issues, and lawn upkeep. I govern all things child-related. He cleans the cats’ litterbox. I do all meal-planning and grocery shopping.
Call our method of task delegation antiquated if you will. But I’m here to tell you that it works. If the garbage can is overflowing in the morning, I have every right to nag and complain until he takes it out. Same goes for him and a dirty bathroom. We know our roles. And our household runs like a well-oiled machine.
Until it’s time to do the laundry.
I’ll be the first to admit it: I’m a Pinterest addict. I love (read: love) pinning things. There’s just something so fulfilling about organizing all of my favorite online content into neat, tidy, visually-appealing pin boards. Favorite recipes. Household tips and tricks. Dream home ideas. Kiddo activities. Gift ideas. You name it, I’ve got a pin board for it.
So it’s no surprise that Pinterest is one of my top-five go-to websites every day.
Except in January.
