When it comes to most things in life, I’m a stickler for timeliness. If an event starts at 5, I’m there at 5. I meet deadlines. I’m 10-15 minutes early for appointments. I even buy fruits and vegetables in season.
But holidays are my one exception to the rule.
I manufacture a million ways to guarantee that I get my coffee fix every day.
I always start my morning with a cup of coffee. That goes without saying. I sneak it into my post-workout protein shake. I add espresso powder to basically every chocolate dessert I make. (Did you know that it highlights chocolate’s deep, rich flavor without actually imparting any of it’s own coffee-y flavor on the dessert? Fact.)
Coffee in my ice cream. Coffee in my alcohol. Coffee in my pudding. Coffee in my pork chops. (Try it. It’ll change your life.)
It’s three days before Christmas. I should be fervently baking (more) cookies. Or planning my menu for Christmas dinner. Or cleaning my house. Or wrapping gifts. Or doing one of a million other things that need to happen before December 25th.
But it’s a gloriously perfect 78 degrees outside, and I just can’t bring myself to do any of those things.
